About Hoof Pix

HoofPix is a photography brand built for horse owners, riders, and equestrian families who want something a little more real. The idea is simple: natural, documentary-style photography that captures the genuine connection between people and their horses.

It started quietly, with a camera brought along to the yard… then it never really left. What began as a few photos for friends has grown into a dedicated brand with its own identity, focused on relaxed shoots, real moments, and a deep understanding of the horse world.

At HoofPix, the goal isn’t perfection, it’s authenticity. Whether it’s a quiet yard session, a few sales photos, or a full day out at a show, every image is taken with care, patience, and a genuine appreciation for the horse in front of the lens.

The face Behind the Camera

Hi, I’m Lewis — the face behind Hoof Pix.

Photography has always been part of my life, but Hoof Pix started when I brought my camera along to the yard one day.

I’ve been around horses from a young age, thanks to my mum, who’s always had a love for them. In some shape or form, horses have always been close by, and that’s made a big difference in how I approach photographing them. I understand how they move, how they think, and how to work around them calmly and confidently.

My style is documentary, natural, and relaxed. I’ll give a bit of gentle direction when it helps, but most of the time I’m just there to quietly capture the real moments, the bond, the details, and the little things that happen when you’re not thinking about the camera.

The Hoof Pix Style

The Hoof Pix style is relaxed, natural, and rooted in a documentary approach. It’s not about stiff posing or polished perfection. It’s about capturing genuine connection, the small glances, the quiet touches, the real way you and your horse interact.

During a shoot, I’ll offer light direction to help things flow, but I’m never trying to force a moment. I want you to feel at ease, and for your horse to feel comfortable too. Whether it’s a portrait session, a yard visit with a few friends, or a quick set of sales photos, the aim is always the same: to keep things calm, straightforward, and true to the relationship in front of the lens.

Why the Name Hoof Pix?

This is actually a question I get asked quite a lot, and the answer’s pretty straightforward

The name HoofPix is just a simple play on words. It comes from “hoof pick” and “pics”, and when I first said it out loud, it made me laugh.

It felt like something a bit different, a bit fun, and it stuck. I liked that it sounded unique without trying too hard, and it instantly made sense for what I do. It’s a name that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that suits HoofPix perfectly.
